Terminology
Here are basic terms that are used during practice:
Shomen (正面): The front of the room.
Seiretsu (整列): Line up.
Chakuza (着座): Sit down.
Seiza (正座): Type of sitting that requires your leg to be folded in beneath you.
Shinai(竹刀): The bamboo sword that is used for most of practice.
Bokuto/Bokken(木刀/木剣): Wooden sword that is used for kata.
Kata (形): Form work practice.
Keiko/Geiko(稽古): Practice/Training
Ashisabaki(足捌き): Footwork
Rei(礼): Bow
Sonkyo(蹲踞): Squat Bow
